At our Grants Pass sanctuary, our vibrant farmstand plays a crucial role in supporting the care and rehabilitation of our rescued alpacas and llamas. Operating as a community hub, the farmstand offers locally sourced, sustainable products that not only capture the spirit of our sanctuary but also generate essential funds for veterinary care, nutritious feed, and enhanced living conditions for these gentle animals. By purchasing from our farmstand, you become an integral part of our mission—helping provide a loving, safe haven where every alpaca and llama can thrive. Join us in making a difference and support our rescue efforts through our dedicated farmstand initiative.
Caring for rescued alpacas goes far beyond food and shelter. Many of the animals that arrive at TNP Alpaca Rescue have endured neglect, poor nutrition, or untreated medical issues. As a result, ongoing veterinary care is critical to ensure each alpaca can heal and live comfortably.
Routine Veterinary Exams: Annual wellness checks, vaccinations, and bloodwork to monitor herd health.
Specialized Care: Several alpacas, like Lulu, require treatment for deformities and old injuries, while older herd members like Dr. J need extra nutritional support to maintain a healthy weight.
Skin & Parasite Management: Animals like Orchid require continued treatment for skin conditions, along with a rotational deworming program for the entire herd.
Dental & Jaw Care: Injuries and malformations require monitoring to ensure the animals can eat comfortably and maintain proper nutrition.
Feed & Supplements: High-quality hay, grain, and specialized supplements tailored to each alpaca’s health needs.
Hoof & Teeth Maintenance: Regular trimming and checks to prevent pain or mobility issues.
Shelter & Pasture Management: Safe, clean barns and rotational grazing areas that prevent overuse of land and reduce parasite load.
Daily Monitoring: Hands-on observation of each animal’s appetite, behavior, and comfort level to catch early signs of illness.
Providing this level of care ensures that our herd not only survives but thrives. With consistent funding, we can cover the costs of veterinary visits, medications, supplements, feed, and ongoing pasture improvements, giving each alpaca the chance to live a full, healthy life. At the same time, this care strengthens the foundation of our youth programs—teaching compassion, responsibility, and the importance of proper animal stewardship.
